At En Pointe Theatre Arts, our unwavering commitment is to foster a nurturing learning environment where students can thrive under our guidance. The code of conduct, a profound and integral part of our community, has been meticulously designed to ensure the overall well-being of all parties involved.

When registering for classes at En Pointe Theatre Arts, I understand and agree to follow the terms listed below for myself, my family and my dancer. I agree that if I, my family, or my dancer violate these policies, I will take full responsibility and work with En Pointe Theatre Arts in a positive manner to correct the situation as soon as it occurs or as soon as I am notified of an issue. I also understand that En Pointe Theatre Arts reserves the right to dismiss me, my family, and/or my dancer without refunds in the event of a violation. I also understand that I will be responsible for any fees that En Pointe Theatre Arts may incur in taking action to enforce the code of conduct.

  • Any issues or questions that arise throughout the dance year should be addressed solely and directly to the studio owner, Danielle Emms, in a respectful and professional manner.

  • .If the issue is related to the studio owner, it can be referred to the appointed safeguarding lead, who will have the authority to deal with it.

  • Common areas should be a positive environment for everyone. Negativity is not acceptable.

  • Students must come to class ready to dance (Please see dress code). This means having your hair tied up and wearing proper attire before the start of class. Class time is for dancing and learning, not preparing for class.

  • At En Pointe Theatre Arts, we expect all dancers and parents to treat each other, as well as our instructors, choreographers, and educators, with respect and vice versa. This mutual respect is essential for maintaining a professional and supportive atmosphere within our studio.

  • Dancers are expected to be respectful to one another in the classroom. Some classes accommodate a range of skill and age levels. Only positive remarks will be accepted.

  • En Pointe Theatre Arts provides a dance curriculum which encompasses a multitude of genres, dancers are not permitted to take classes with other studios in genres the school offers or workshops without the principals prior discretion. This is to ensure parity to both studios and consistency of training. Dance educators typically utilise different training methods and this can be confusing and lead to conflicting information being provided to students hindering their progression.

  • Choreography, costumes and music adaptations are the property of the studio and will not be used or shared for anything other than studio use.

  • Tobacco, alcohol and/or drugs are prohibited in or around the dance studio. They are also never to be given to anyone under the legal age for any reason.

  • Dance shoes must not be worn outside, as they can damage dance floors and bring in pathogens that are unhealthy.

  • Please be mindful of your dancers’ personal social media accounts. Many of them report being a dancer at En Pointe Theatre Arts. If they make inappropriate posts, it reflects poorly on our environment and may risk their dismissal from the studio, depending on the content.

  • Audio recording is strictly prohibited and video recording is only appropriate if approved by Danielle Emms.

At En Pointe Theatre Arts, we are committed to providing our dancers with the best opportunities and experiences possible. Your growth and development are our top priority.

Punctuality

Students must be punctual. If you are running late, it's your responsibility to notify the school WhatsApp group upon your arrival. This not only shows responsibility but also helps us manage the class effectively.

It is at the discretion of the teacher, with the best interest of the dancer in mind, whether they will be permitted to participate in the class.

A class is structured with a warm-up that is not just a formality but a crucial step to prevent injury. It's not just about being on time, it's about your safety. Arriving late means missing out on this vital part of the class, which could increase the risk of injury.

Dress code

The dress code, a key component of our dance program, is designed with the safety and focus of our students in mind. By directing students to concentrate on the instruction rather than the fashion sported by their peers, it aids in improving their overall dance technique. This focus also promotes safety, as instructors can see the line of the body essential for developing technique in dancers.

  • The dancer’s grade and genre specifies the uniform requirements for their class. Please speak with the dancers’ class educator regarding the appropriate uniform for the dancer’s level.

  • School hoodies are purchasable by email through the school principal

  • All removable items of clothes and shoes should be labelled with the dancer’s name; dancers are responsible for their belongings

  • Hair must be worn in a ballet bun or crossover braids for all classes

  • Proper clothing, hair, and shoes are not just for the safety of your dancer, but also to provide them with the appropriate mindset for their dance genre. If your dancer does not have the required items for safety reasons, they may be asked to change before coming into class. If they don’t have the requested clothing items, they will be asked to call home to have a parent or guardian bring the correct clothing. They will not be able to participate in class until they are appropriately dressed and groomed.

  • In accordance with examination guidelines, other than small studs, no facial, body piercing, watches, bracelets, or necklaces are to be worn for examinations.

Communications

We communicate as follows:

  • Email

  • WhatsApp group

It's important to check for communications regularly to avoid missing important information. By doing so, you're taking an active role in your dancer's education and ensuring they have everything they need for a successful dance experience.
